Good afternoon, Please find below the Republican response to Governor Cuomo's 2020 State of the State address delivered by New York Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy. It is available in HD quality for use in your news broadcasts and the transcript of the remarks as prepared is below. Best, Jessica Proud Full transcript: We are halfway into Andrew Cuomo’s third term, and what he should have declared is the sorry state of our state. We are a state on its knees, facing fiscal and moral crisis of untold damage. New York was once the envy of the world, named the Empire State for our ingenuity, our vast wealth and our resources. Today, we have gone from the Empire State to the Vampire State. Our distinctions are a national embarrassment: Highest taxes in America Worst economic outlook Least business friendly Worst place to retire Most government corruption And the most damning of all, the highest outmigration of its citizens. We have more people fleeing New York than any other state in the country. More than a million people have left under this Governor. If actions are louder than words, this exodus is a deafening scream from New Yorkers that we are on the wrong path. We are losing our greatest commodity, our people. And the human consequence is real. Families are split apart, missing birthdays, Sunday dinners and sports games. Young adults who have fled to other states for job opportunities and affordability live with constant angst about being far from aging parents. Third, fourth and fifth generation New Yorkers are packing up and leaving because every other state in America provides more opportunity and a better quality of life. That is a travesty. It’s also dangerously unsustainable. As our residents and jobs leave, so does our tax revenue. So does our talent. We are yet again facing the loss of one or two congressional seats after the next census, giving us less representation in our federal government. For years, Cuomo has been making pathetic excuses that the weather is to blame. That the cost of his government is not in his control. It’s a flat-out lie. South Dakota, Colorado, Washington, and Utah are all some of the fastest growing states. Don’t for one second tell me people are moving to South Dakota for the weather. We are being eclipsed by every other state because of bad policies, failed leadership and corruption by this governor who puts his obsession with his own power over the needs of every New Yorker. He has surrendered NYS to the radicals who now dominate both his Democrat Party and our government. Democrat rule of our state could be summed up in one word: reckless. Cuomo has recklessly overspent creating a $6 billion budget deficit. Cuomo has recklessly wasted billions on corrupt corporate welfare that produced no jobs and no results. Even Amazon admitted the $ 2 billion Cuomo was prepared to give them was not enough to overcome New York’s horrendous business climate. He is not just reckless with our economy, he is recklessly destroying our quality of life, too. Cuomo and the Democrats are coddling criminals with their catch-and-release policies, giving felons the right to vote and letting cop-killers and murderers out on parole. Cuomo now calls this a “work in progress.” It’s not a “work in progress,” it’s a failure in progress and not another minute should go by before this dangerous law is repealed. But in Cuomo’s New York, it’s our prosecutors and law enforcement who have been handcuffed, while criminals go free. The Governor’s entire speech today, and the priorities under Democrat-control are alarmingly tone-deaf. They have zero regard for the struggles of taxpayers who are disrespected and abused, thinking our incomes are theirs for the taking, an endless well to dip into at every turn. Never is attention paid to the accountability of their spending. Never is concern given to effectiveness, return on investment or efficiency. Last year alone, they thrust more than a billion new taxes and fees on New Yorkers and this year they are already talking about adding more. Our government is so remote, so detached, so focused on a narrow extreme political audience, we are due for a taxpayer revolt. It’s time for commonsense to make a comeback in New York State. It’s time to show respect for the people who pay the bills, who follow our laws and who work day in and day out to pay their mortgage and struggle to survive in our ever-shrinking middle class. We can do better. The same principles that are giving us a record booming national economy can be applied in New York. Tax and regulatory reform would unleash our economy like a rocket. We don’t need to be a state in retreat, remembering past glories. We CAN be a state that is competitive, growing and affordable, while still providing a social safety net for our most vulnerable population. Other states are doing it, under better leaders. From Buffalo to Brookhaven, the Hudson Valley, New York City, the Capitol region, the Adirondacks, the Southern Tier, and everywhere in between. We have everything we need at our fingertips except the right leaders. I am a proud lifelong Western New Yorker, and as the youngest person to be elected as the leader of New York’s Republican Party, I am dedicated to ushering in a new era not just for our Party, but for our state. The Republican Party is the Party of taxpayers. The Party of commonsense. The Party of respect for the rule of law and our men and women in uniform. Cuomo in his third term is only becoming more liberal, more removed, and more corrupt. In 2020 we can restore balance to New York, put a check on Democrats out-of-control policies and stem the bleeding. Instead of leaving, let’s fight. Our state is worth it. Our families are worth it. United in this cause, we can bring New York to her feet, tall and proud, with our brightest days ahead. Thank you and God bless the great people of the State of New York. ‌ ‌ New York Republican State Committee | 315 State Street, Albany, NY 12210 Unsubscribe [email protected] Update Profile | About Constant Contact Sent by [email protected] in collaboration with Try email marketing for free today!
