Republicans have lost no time in attacking women’s rights in the new year. 205 GOP members of Congress submitted a letter to the Supreme Court asking them to undo Roe v. Wade and destroy the right to choose and bodily autonomy. In March, the Court will be hearing the Louisiana abortion case that this amicus curae brief references -- meaning they could undo Roe v. Wade and legal abortion in the U.S. before the 2020 election.
The Supreme Court, led by Trump’s hand-picked, anti-choice justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, as already been taking steps toward dismantling these rights, rejecting a challenge to a Kentucky law requiring doctors to perform ultrasounds and play a fetal heartbeat to those seeking abortions.
