John, I wanted
to personally reach out and give you a behind the scenes look into
everything Justice Democrats did to recruit and support Summer Lee’s
winning campaign.

It all began in 2021, through statistical analysis we identified PA-12 as
a target district for us to recruit a progressive leader who could run
against the political establishment and win.

After talking to over 180 local leaders, organizers, union members, and
activists in Western Pennsylvania, it was clear that State Rep. Summer Lee
was by far the strongest leader and a truly grassroots candidate to run in
this district.

Then, we worked with Summer’s campaign for Congress from day one. We
supported her from launch through victory, helping her campaign create its
branding, media and policy preparations, and helped her secure major
endorsements from national progressives.

We supported Summer’s on the ground organizing and helped her fight off
over $10 million in outside spending against her from groups like AIPAC.
And with grassroots contributions from people like you, we raised over
$100,000 directly for her campaign.

Our team and volunteers boosted Summer’s field operations both during the
primary and general elections. Our volunteers helped her reach 131,000
total calls and 256,000 total text messages to voters in PA-12.

This is how deep we go with our candidates. No other organization in the
progressive arena recruits and supports candidates like we do. Now, Summer
Lee will make history in January when she’s sworn in and will be the first
Black woman to represent Pennsylvania in Congress.

But all of this work takes major resources especially when we have to
fight back against right-wing super PACs like AIPAC who will be relentless
in their future attacks against outspoken progressives like Summer.

And because our fundraising continues to decline, we need to see a major
increase in contributions immediately. Otherwise, we’ll have to make some
hard decisions about where to make budget cuts — which will mean pulling
back critical areas of support for our candidates.

know how to win. We’ve been winning. But we’re at an inflection point as
an organization and we need your support now. So what do you say? Will you

Our work over the last five years has transformed Democratic politics as
we know it. We recruited and helped elect AOC, Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush,
and now Summer Lee. Those progressive fighters, alongside every other
Justice Democrat in Congress, are pushing for policies that match the
scale of the crises we face.

To continue electing new fighters to join them in the Squad, where they’ll
fight for us, we need the resources to fund our operation. We completely
rely on grassroots support from people like you. [ [link removed] ]So with our
fundraising declining, we’re coming directly to supporters like you to
chip in and help us make up the difference.
