Friend,

Two of our Republican House candidates are currently involved in recount efforts, and both need volunteers to ensure that the process is carried out with the highest degree of integrity possible.

Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin announced today that both recounts, to be completed by hand, must be finalized no later than Saturday, Dec. 10.

In the First Middlesex District, Townsend Republican Andrew Shepherd currently trails his Democratic opponent by just 17 votes, a 0.08 percent margin.

Meanwhile, in the Second Essex District, incumbent Georgetown Republican Lenny Mirra leads his Democratic opponent by only 10 votes, a margin of 0.04 percent.

Per Galvin's announcement:

Local election officials in the districts will schedule hand recounts to be held in each town in the district, before each town’s board of registrars. All recounts are open to public observation. Towns must provide at least 3 days’ notice to each candidate prior to the date of the scheduled recount.

We are actively seeking volunteers to observe both recount efforts. If you are interested in volunteering, please email MassGOP Operations Manager Elizabeth Groot at [email protected].

Volunteers will receive updates regarding when and where to observe both recounts.

We are encouraging everyone who is available during the first two weeks of December to volunteer.

Andrew and Lenny both ran spirited, hard-fought campaigns, and are very much deserving of our support.

Yours,
