Like Maja, a Bosnian refugee who fled to Florida in the 1990s. Even though it
was many years ago, she clearly remembers entering her new place.
“The place was so pretty and well-arranged. There were flowers on the table,
food in the fridge, and a lamp already turned on. It felt so loving.” – Maja
This is what we mean by welcoming newcomers with open arms. So many have fled
horrific circumstances, like the conflicts in Ukraine and Afghanistan, natural
disasters, and humanitarian crises. And so entering a new home prepared by
