The Virginia GOP is finally clued into what the rest of us have known for a while: Donald Trump is deeply unpopular within our Commonwealth.

Conservative leader and Virginia Beach Delegate Tim Anderson is leading the charge to break up with the former president. Anderson told the Virginia Mercury that Trump will never win here in Virginia, adding, “I should have said this two years ago.”

But, their other option is dodgy too. Gov. Youngkin, once thought a more palatable alternative to Trump, just embarked on a nationwide tour promoting Republican candidates, almost all of whom lost. The GOP simply does not have a winner to follow.

John, the GOP is truly in disarray, and we really hate to see it. While they don’t know which way is up, Democrats have a plan to win big next year and put forth an agenda that serves all Virginians. The normally boisterous GOP has been eerily silent since their disappointing midterm performance. Perhaps it’s because they can’t figure out who to blame and how to move forward, but Virginians can’t wait around for them to get it together. We need real leadership now.
