Friend,

Thanksgiving is a day to spend time with family, eat, relax, sit in a food coma, and watch a little football.

But most importantly, it's a day to give thanks.

In the Kilmer family, before digging into the turkey, we go around the table and say what we're thankful for. This year, I'm thankful for so many things.

I'm thankful for the brave men and women who have kept (and continue to keep) our country safe. I'm thankful for the amazing region in which we live – including for the Olympic National Park and for Puget Sound. I'm thankful for the teachers and educational employees that educate my kids. I’m thankful for the hundreds of thousands of Americans who made their voices heard to ensure our government's policies are as good and as righteous as the people of the United States.

I will always be thankful for folks in our region for affording me the honor of representing you. It's the honor of a lifetime to serve you and the country we love for another two years.

While it's clear there is more work to be done and that the path ahead will not always be easy to navigate, I remain eager to get back to work and optimistic about our nation's future.

But for now, I want to say thank you, and from my family to yours: Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving

With gratitude,

Derek
