When the General Assembly convenes this week, those who were born in Virginia will represent fewer than half of the state's 140 legislators. ([link removed]) This is not a big surprise in a state evenly split between those who were born here and those who came here. But this may be the first time since the Colonial era that Virginia-born lawmakers have been outnumbered.
