Support Gifting for Families and Brighten Children's Holidays!

Holidays are particularly difficult for families experiencing poverty. Parents must often make the choice between getting gifts for their kids or buying groceries and other household necessities. Your support of NVFS’ Gifting for Families <[link removed]> toy drive helps alleviate this by bringing the joy of the season to our neighbors in need.

Here's how you can make this season brighter for the children and families in Northern Virginia:

* Donate toys in-person on Friday, December 2 from 12pm-4pm or on Monday, December 5 from 12pm-6pm or through our Amazon Wish List <[link removed]>. (Gifts for teens and 0-2 year olds are particularly needed!)
* Donate funds so we can purchase additional toys or gift cards as needed.
* Volunteer to help us sort and pack toys for the children.
* Donate gift cards in multiples of $ 25 to help families purchase food, necessities, clothing, or holiday meals.

Learn more, and see our recommended toy lists and drop off location at nvfs.org/gifting <[link removed]>.

Join us for the Always Forward Film World Premiere

Join us <[link removed]> on the evening of Wednesday, December 7th for the world premiere of Always Forward, a Rising Act Film. Navigating fear and self-doubt, Ninah, a Congolese refugee, sets out to establish herself in a new homeland – one where anything is possible. Watch with us and celebrate Ninah’s journey and the joy and resilience of immigrants in our community. The evening will feature a pre-event reception followed by the film screening and panel discussion with NVFS clients and staff, moderated by Margery Sher. This event is free to attend, but space is limited, and registration is required <[link removed]>. See you there!

Thank You for Helping Families Have a Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks to the support of our donors, sponsors and volunteers, NVFS distributed more than 550 Thanksgiving meal bags and $ 10,000 in grocery store gift cards to families in the Greater Prince William area.

A variety of community organizations, local businesses, kids, individuals, and families visited during our donation days to drop off non-perishable items. A big thank you to the Prince William District Boy Scouts for collecting and donating 5,274 pounds of food! Volunteers and members from the NVFS Leadership Team helped sort through and pack the donations. We are truly grateful for such a generous community. Your donations, your time, and your support not only helps families survive, but thrive!

If you didn't have a chance to join us during Operation Turkey check out the Gifting for Families <[link removed]>holiday drive going on now!
