Every client at Doorways matched with a Winter Wishes sponsor! Thanks to an outpouring of generosity and kindness from our amazing community of supporters, 200 adults and children at Doorways have been matched with a sponsor! That means that each person will get a new winter coat and a $100 gift card to shop the season for what they need and want. Winter Wishes is magical. Thank you! Askable Adult What makes someone “askable”? "To help us learn what it means to be an Askable Adult, I was joined by three dynamic and devoted Arlington community builders: Ashley Blowe, Training and Prevention Specialist, Department of Human Services; Siobhan Grayson, Youth Outreach Coordinator for the Prevention Unit under the Department of Human Services; and Scotney Young, Prevention and Outreach Manager at Doorways, a domestic and sexual violence response organization." Listen to Podcast Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week We just wrapped up Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, where each year, people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness, and how organizations like Doorways and communities like Arlington respond. Arlington's Response to Homelessness Doorways is part of the Arlington County Continuum of Care (CoC), a core network of interconnected programs and services that works to strengthen our community’s crisis response system to prevent homelessness at every opportunity and resolve it by swiftly connecting individuals and families to permanent housing. Comforters for kids The kiddos in our supportive housing program still sleep in twin size beds, and we currently don't have comforters for them.
