In 2016, millions of Democrats stayed home or were intimidated from voting at all, and Donald Trump won Wisconsin by just 0.77%, Michigan by just 0.23%, and Pennsylvania by just 0.72%.
But if Democrats fail to show up to vote in 2020, Trump will win again, we’ll lose our House majority, and Mitch McConnell will maintain control of the Senate.
If Trump wins re-election after surviving impeachment, he’ll grow increasingly unhinged. Kids in cages, the Muslim Ban, tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations, withdrawal from the Paris climate accords, calling white supremacists “very fine people,” and calling his impeachment a “lynching.” That all will look tame.
Trump will stack the Supreme Court with more lifetime appointments, more justices like Brett Kavanaugh. Trump will gut the EPA. He’ll destroy Obamacare and defund Medicare and Social Security in favor of more and more tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations.
Our mission at When Democrats Turn Out is to prevent a repeat of the 2016 election by educating voters in key swing states. Our mission is to support every single key Senate battleground race and dozens of House candidates. Our mission is to beat Trump in 2020.
But right now, we’re falling VERY short of our fundraising goals. If we can’t raise another $2,300 today, we’ll need to significantly scale back our strategy in 2020.
