Donald Trump just announced his bid to return to the White House in 2024, and his potential return to power is perhaps the greatest threat to our democracy ever. Together, we defeated him in 2020 and will fight with everything we have to do the same now. It almost seems unthinkable, John, that a disgraced, twice-impeached wacko who incited an insurrection on our Capitol – and nearly pulled off a coup! – could return to the Oval Office. But Trump's attempt at a comeback is the consequence of having a Republican Party that has completely transformed into a vehicle for Trump's whims and wishes. And in doing so, Republicans have embraced practices and an agenda more in line with fascist authoritarians than with American democracy.

We've already witnessed Trump and his band of GOP extremists try to lie and cheat their way to power. We've watched them institute voter suppression. We've seen them embrace conspiracies and sow fear and doubt in our democratic institutions. This is their playbook. But we know how to fight it. We know how to defeat them – and we'll do it, together.
