THE AD COUNCIL

CREATE + CHANGE | NOVEMBER 2022

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, America was facing an escalating mental health crisis, and a series of cascading crises has only exacerbated it. In response, we’ve just announced a groundbreaking $65 million, multiyear Mental Health Initiative. The Huntsman Mental Health Institute has provided a $15 million lead contribution, representing the largest single donation in Ad Council history.

Read on to meet our Board of Directors’ newly appointed members, learn more about the Ad Council Research Institute’s 2022 Trusted Messengers Study, and catch up on all our November news!

Introducing Our Multiyear Mental Health Initiative

Nearly half of Americans ages 16 to 65 say they have a mental health condition, and only about half of that group say they’re getting help or treatment, according to new Ad Council research. To address the mental health crisis in our country, change the conversation around mental health and reduce stigma associated with seeking help, we’ve just announced our Mental Health Initiative, a far-reaching and comprehensive communications effort that will include multiple campaigns designed to reach a broad range of communities. The $65 million initiative kicked off with a $15 million contribution from the Huntsman Mental Health Institute. For more about the current and future campaigns that will make up the initiative, and the communities those campaigns will reach, head to our website.

2022 ACRI Trusted Messenger Study

In 2021, the Ad Council Research Institute (ACRI) launched a multiyear study on trusted messengers to determine who Americans turn to for information on social causes. The goal behind the effort is to share insights and best practices on leveraging trusted messengers to empower corporate leaders, organizations and civic groups to effectively educate and inspire the American public. Our just-launched 2022 Trusted Messenger report provides an update on the messengers Americans look to now on key social issues, and features insights from various demographics on public health experts, celebrities and influencers, academics, and more.
