News from Representative Allred

Dear John,

Today marks one year since President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – legislation that I worked hard to get over the finish line as a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

I was born and raised in North Texas, and I’ve watched our region grow dramatically. In the past decade, North Texas has grown by one million people, and we are expected to grow by another million in the next decade. That means substantial investments in our infrastructure aren’t optional, they’re a necessity

And now thanks to this historic bill, Texas has received $13.9 billion to help improve our state’s infrastructure. This includes funding for roads, bridges, airports, public transit, electric vehicle charging and more. Here are some highlights over the last year:
  • $10.8 billion to help improve and rebuild over 19,000 miles of highway and 818 bridges in poor condition across our state
  • Over $345 million going to our airports, like DFW Airport and Dallas Love Field, to make sure you get where you need to go safely and efficiently
  • $645 million to improve public transit options across the state, like DART
  • $147 million in 2022 and 2023 to build out a network of EV charging stations across the state
  • $51 million for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus Program, over $7.6 million of which has been allocated to Dallas ISD
  • 1.1 million Texas households are getting a discount on their internet, thanks to the Affordable Connectivity Program
  • $811 million to bolster Texas’s infrastructure resilience in the face of climate threats and severe weather disasters
This legislation is proof that when we work together, we can accomplish big things. I look forward to continuing the work to make sure this legislation continues to deliver for North Texas. With it, our region will thrive, and I look forward to seeing its impact on our state for generations to come.

It’s an honor to deliver for North Texas, where I was born and raised.

Sincerely,
