In November and December, we send more fundraising appeals than usual — and I’d like to explain why we focus so much on raising money during this time of year, and how your generosity is going to make the difference between winning and losing for reproductive freedom in 2020.
We send extra emails around this time because we need to invest — early and often — to build out the most robust legislative, electoral, and advocacy campaigns possible in the year to come.
Our early investments, especially in a momentous election year like 2020, can make the difference when it comes to flipping the Senate, expanding our pro-choice majority in the House, and taking back the White House.
In 2019, our members — reproductive freedom voters and advocates like you, John — stepped up like never before.
In fact, thousands of supporters from all 50 states pitched in last month to help exceed our $350,000 goal — and this year, we’ll need every penny to expand and protect reproductive freedom.
Unlike anti-choice organizations that rely almost exclusively on a network of dark money super PACs and a few conservative billionaire mega-donors to advance their unpopular and immoral agenda, grassroots donations make up the majority of NARAL’s fundraising stream.
They’re the donations we rely on to hire more organizing staff, to rent campaign offices and print materials for volunteers, to host phone banks and canvasses to elect champions for reproductive freedom.
These donations are essential to defeating Donald Trump and the anti-choice agenda in 2020.
That’s why we’re so grateful to you for being a part of this movement.
