John —

Last night, three University of Virginia students lost their lives during a mass shooting on campus, and two more students were injured. Those who were shot and killed were all members of the UVA football team: Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr. and D’Sean Perry.

Our hearts go out to the UVA community and the family and loved ones of those hurt and killed. This is what it looks like for guns to be the top cause of death for children and young adults in America. You never know where it will happen next time, only that there is always a next time.

Meanwhile, we know that the majority of Americans want real commonsense solutions to gun violence and leaders who aren't afraid to take on the gun lobby to make our communities safer. Last week, voters sent a strong message at the polls that it’s time for politicians to take this issue seriously.

We know mass shootings are preventable — not inevitable. That’s why we keep fighting and will continue to fight until it becomes a reality. This week, March For Our Lives will be hosting several direct actions in D.C. to demand Congress act quickly on gun safety legislation.

We’ve got unfinished business, and the work must continue. Thanks for being part of our movement.

In solidarity,

March For Our Lives
