Come get a sneak peek of our Fall programs!

We're offering girls a chance to join us for any of our Fall programs through the first week of December to get a feel for the program before registering. Our programs offer a chance to learn new skills that can apply to future careers, side hustles, and passions. Each program offers leadership development, STEAM education, confidence building, and sisterhood. Drop into one or all and find the right fit!

Girl Action Teams

Girl Action Teams create space for girls to “be the change” and design a social change project that solves a problem they see. Here's what we have in store this year. Register here or RSVP to attend a Sneak Peek.

How Fashion Reflects Social Change

The Thomas Jefferson HS Girl Action Team is back in FASHION this fall! Girls on this team will work together to execute a fashion show surrounding themes on the social change impacts of fashion. Through this initiative, participants will reveal how clothes and fashion send a social message on their own. Register Here or RSVP to attend a Sneak Peek.

Girls Drop Beats, Too
While Black women have been in the game of DJing for decades, they are significantly underrepresented and have a much harder time being immersed in the industry. Our Girls Drop Beats Too Girl Action Team aims to help close the gap by providing greater access to field experts, expanding musical perspectives, and supplying girls with the skills and techniques to create their own businesses in DJing. Girls who complete this program will even have a chance to secure a PAID gig! Learning to DJ is a great side hustle and the skills acquired translate to engineering and other technical skills. Registration fees begin at $50 to rent a kit and $180 to purchase a kit.

Girls Who Code

Of the 329,559 software engineers employed in the U.S., a mere 25.1% are women. And the majority of those women are white. Girls Who Code brings girls together at all levels of coding to create projects based-on self-identified social change ideas and computer science concepts. During this year's session, girls will learn introductory coding skills and experience the iterative design thinking process through blocky coding language and introductory 3D design skills using the Tinkerclad platform.

This program meets on Thursdays from 6:00pm -7:30pm

The Summer Immersion Lab cohort shares their experience.

Immersion Lab

This year we relaunched our Immersion Lab program with a focus on entrepreneurship through the Budding Black Girl Incubator. The curriculum included 8 weeks of immersive entrepreneurship training, working on product development and pitching. Our Summer cohort competed in a pitch competition hosted by Capital One where they had the opportunity to win seed money. Three participants won, earning $1,250 in seed money.
