Team -- now that the tallies in Arizona and Nevada are in, it’s official:

We did it! All four of Donald Trump’s election denier candidates running for secretary of state in critical battleground states have been defeated. Our democracy survives.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did to secure these victories. This team made a HUGE difference -- these secretary of state races, too often overlooked and underfunded, were absolutely essential to preventing election deniers from taking power and overseeing our democracy. If you ever wondered whether it was worth it to chip in one more time or reach out to one more voter, let these results send a clear message: This work matters.

Thanks to people like you, The American SOS Project was able to invest  in Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, and Minnesota -- contests we knew would be close. That’s especially true in Arizona and Nevada, where the election deniers were actually leading in the polls all the way up to Election Day. We worked alongside partners like the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State, the Lincoln Project, National Security Leaders for America, and iVote to invest where we could have the biggest impact -- and together, we fought back those who believed they could hijack our democracy.

The story of how we got here says so much about the dedication of this grassroots team. After the 2020 election, like so many of you, we saw the warning signs about the rising threats to our democracy. After my defeat in Kentucky, I couldn’t just throw up my hands and give up -- and I soon found out that a lot of you felt the same way. Within days of that election, we started Democratic Majority Action PAC and raised over $1 million, working with folks on the ground in Georgia for the crucial Senate runoffs for Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. Together, we demoted Mitch McConnell to minority leader! (And it looks like he’s not getting his old job back any time soon.)

After January 6th, 2021, it was clear that the threat to our democracy was reaching a tipping point. Our work took two forms -- working to stop the “Sedition Caucus” in Congress and, earlier this year, starting The American SOS Project when Donald Trump and his cronies started bragging about their plot to install election deniers in key secretary of state offices around the country. We sounded the alarm on the danger of allowing these extremist election deniers to gain power.

I’m so proud to say: We just successfully fended off the greatest internal threat to our democracy in my lifetime.

So what’s next? While we have the momentum, we need to do whatever we can to help Raphael Warnock get back to the Senate -- and stop another dangerous election denier from taking his seat. So let’s get the band back together from the last Georgia runoffs and help Get Out the Vote groups get the job done.

We have just over three weeks to help secure a victory for Senator Warnock. If you would like to be a part of this effort, please join me NOW by making a donation to kickstart this work. All funds will go toward on-the-ground efforts in Georgia:

Time and again, you have stepped up to defend our democracy in a big way. I’m so proud to be in this fight alongside you.

Thank you,

Amy
