On Tuesday, Justice Democrat Summer Lee was elected to represent PA-12, making history as the first working class Black woman to represent Pennsylvania in Congress. Thanks in large part to your unwavering support, Summer will join AOC, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush in the Squad.

But Summer’s victory wasn’t without severe opposition. Leading up to Election Day, AIPAC and other Super PACs spent millions of dollars attacking Summer and elevating her insurrection-aligned Republican opponent. Don’t forget: AIPAC also endorsed over 100 other election-denying, insurrectionist-linked Republicans. 

In the face of all these attacks, Summer ran a campaign that prioritized bold change and transparency, refusing to take a cent from corporate Super PACs, instead choosing to remain accountable to the people.

Summer just proved that we can defeat the divide-and-conquer politics of right-wing Super PACs with a progressive and inclusive vision for a multi-generational, multiracial movement. From unions and climate activists to progressive leaders and working class families, we came together to deliver a future that works for everyone in PA-12.

They had the money, Summer had the people. The people won.
