Tuesday, Serve America-endorsed Democrats from across the country defied expectations. 14 of our 17 incumbent members are on track to win. In the 7 endorsed challenger races that have been called, 5 of our candidates won. They prevailed in some of the toughest races in the country, proving our theory: a new generation of leaders makes our country better—and they win.

In January 2021, Serve America was the first leadership PAC to cut checks and we didn’t stop hustling for our candidates until the polls closed yesterday. With your generosity, we raised and gave over $2.5 million to support these servant leaders on the front lines of our democracy.

Colleagues like Abigail Spanberger in Virginia, Lauren Underwood in Illinois, and Jahana Hayes in Connecticut held onto the seats we helped them win in 2018. And I can’t wait to work with newly-elected Serve America colleagues like Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania and Hillary Scholten of Michigan.

These victories show that there is a strong demand for leaders able to unify our country—leaders who can connect with a diverse group of Americans, and who know how to get things done. Extremists would have us believe that it’s all about yelling the loudest, tweeting the most outrageous, or dividing “us and them.” But that view was sent packing this week—not gone forever, for sure, but set back by quality leaders and the American people.

After four tours with the Marines, I’m not afraid of bipartisanship. I created 988—the new, nationwide mental health hotline, which is already saving thousands of lives—with a Republican who’s a fellow vet.

That’s what this is all about: doing the work of the American people. Working for you.
