Campaign Success – New EU Sanctions
On 8^th November the EU finally announced a new round of sanctions, targeting members of the Burmese military, judges and business cronies who help broker arms and equipment for the Burmese military. 19 people were sanctioned in all, as well as the State Administration Council, a body set up by the military after they began their attempted coup.

With your support, we have been campaigning for these sanctions, and the sanctions are good news. But at the same time, we have the same problem as we have with the British government. They have the right policy, to impose sanctions to cut off the supply of money and arms to the military, but they are imposing sanctions far too slowly. We’ll keep applying pressure for them to speed up the imposition of new sanctions.

Amnesty International report exposes suppliers of aviation fuel to the Burmese military
We have already written to you about our campaign to cut off the supply of aviation fuel to the Burmese military. Airstrikes by the Burmese military have caused a human rights and humanitarian catastrophe. But if the jets can’t fly, they can’t bomb.

Amnesty International have now published a report exposing the companies which are supplying aviation fuel to Burma. We’ll be in touch soon with news about campaigns to stop these companies supplying aviation fuel.
