Hey John --

I’m about to ask you to answer 3 quick questions to help inform next year's campaign strategy <[link removed]>but first let me introduce myself (or reintroduce myself if you’ve been here since the 2020 campaign!)

My name’s Hayden Munro and I’ve just started as Campaign Manager for Labour’s 2023 election campaign. This is my second time in this role, and I’m so proud of what we achieved together in 2020.

We showed that when Labour runs a strong campaign, grounded in our values and powered by a grassroots movement of New Zealanders, we can do great things.

But John, we’re under no illusions - it’s going to be much harder this time.

Right around the world people are struggling with the grinding impact of the pandemic and the cost of living, and they’re looking to their leaders for answers.

Well, here's our plan: Invest in families and speed up progress on the issues that matter most to New Zealanders - boosting incomes, building new houses, building a better health system and tackling climate change.

Our opposition’s answers are different: They want tax cuts for the very wealthy and service cuts for everyone else.

Our job in this campaign will be to put a clear choice to New Zealanders. Jacinda Ardern’s strong, empathetic and proven leadership vs an untested leader at the helm of a very right-wing coalition.

And John, this is where you come in.

We are going to use our collective skills and experience to run a people powered campaign that puts our volunteers and supporters at the heart of everything we do.

I’m going to need your help as we put together our campaign plan and I want to start by getting your feedback.

John, do you have a second to answer three quick questions about the 2020 campaign? <[link removed]> I found your feedback super helpful when creating the campaign strategy last time and I’m keen to pick your collective brains again!

YES, I'LL SHARE MY THOUGHTS <[link removed]>John, I’m looking forward to working with you to build a campaign we are all proud of, and one that re-elects Jacinda and her team.

Thanks so much,

Hayden Munro

P.S To win this thing we’ll need to raise enough money to compete with National’s mega donors, which means you will get some fundraising emails from me!
