Friend, now that the dust is settling around most of
the races around the country, we wanted to take a minute and say:
Thank you.
Thank you for the
work you have done -- and are still doing -- for
democracy.
So many of you pitched in. Even
more of you joined The Union and put in hours volunteering where it
mattered most.
Your contributions made it possible
for us to do what we do best -- putting powerful stories in front of
the right voters in the right races.
And what about that red wave? More
like a red... ripple? Turns out, when you get out there and do the
work, you can break the conventional wisdom and make history.
Consider:
-
Wisconsin: We ran our
ads over 12 million times. Tony Evers won, keeping control of
Wisconsin's elections in pro-democracy hands through 2024. Remember
how close it was in 2020.
-
Pennsylvania: Dr. Oz
is headed back to New Jersey, and Josh Shapiro gets to appoint a
pro-democracy Secretary of State.
-
Michigan:
Pro-democracy candidates won the trifecta - Governor Gretchen Whitmer,
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and AG Dana Nessel. (Not to mention
winning crucial House seats and flipping the legislature for the first
time since 1983)
-
Nevada: Returns are
still coming in, but things look good for Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto
- critical to holding the Senate - and Secretary of State Cisco
Aguilar.
-
Arizona: Arizona is
also very close, but things look good for Sen. Mark Kelly, Secretary
of State candidate Adrian Fontes, and Katie Hobbs is running very
close to Kari Lake for Governor.
There's a real chance that every
critical Presidential state in 2020 (and 2024) will NOT have an
election-denying Governor - and all will have a pro-democracy
Secretary of State. And Democrats kept it close enough that the House
is not yet called. That means democracy is in a much, much better
place than almost anyone outside our pirate ship could have predicted
-- and it's thanks to your work.
Of course, the work is not yet
over. The threat continues. A certain announcement from Mar-a-Lago
looms next week. Ron DeSantis continues to challenge Trump's
supremacy. The MAGA candidates that won have responded by going even
further to the extreme. And if the GOP does take the House, it's going
to be chaos in Congress for two full years. (We would NOT want to be
Kevin McCarthy, even more than we normally wouldn't...)
And crucially, the Georgia Senate
race is headed to a runoff. We've got to keep our heads down for
another month and run through the tape
We know you're tired and we know
how much of your time, your money, and yourselves you've given. It has
inspired all of us at The Lincoln Project to do the same.
Thank you for being with us in this
fight.
It isn't stopping. And neither are
we.
