Hi  John -

Thank you for being a member of the Center for Freethought Equality[[link removed]]. Below is your 2020 membership card.

As you know, the Center for Freethought Equality is the advocacy and political arm of the American Humanist Association. Connected to the Center for Freethought Equality is the Freethought Equality Fund[[link removed]], a political action committee dedicated to increasing the number of open humanists and atheists, and allies, in public office at all levels of government.

As a member you will be invited to attend our annual meeting, which is held during the American Humanist Association annual conference, and you will be able to vote to determine who will serve on the Center for Freethought Equality's Board of Directors[[link removed]]. Due to regulations from the Federal Elections Commission, your membership must be renewed annually. There are many ways to renew your free membership including voting in the board election, attending the annual meeting, or simply sending us an email when we
notify you during the renewal period.

We do this work to strengthen the separation of government and religion, promote reason and evidence-based public policy, and increase the visibility and political clout of our community; however, we cannot be successful without your active participation. Below are links to resources to enhance your activities as an engaged secular citizen.

We have resources to help you make your voice heard[[link removed]], engage your group[[link removed]], and run for office[[link removed]]. If you are thinking about running for an elected office please contact me! You can also see how your member of Congress voted with our Congressional scorecards[[link removed]] and a list of over 70 nontheist elected officials[[link removed]] including
Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-2)[[link removed]]. In April 2018, Rep. Huffman announced the formation of the Congressional Freethought Caucus[[link removed]], an affinity and policy caucus for members of Congress. Please read my article[[link removed]] for background on how this important caucus was formed.

To continue to increase the number of atheist and humanist elected officials, the Freethought Equality Fund endorses candidates at the federal, state, and local level. You can see our endorsed candidates for 2020 here[[link removed]]. As a federal political action committee our PAC can only make direct donations, with a few exceptions, to our endorsed federal candidates, so we rely on our members - like you - to financially support our endorsed state and local candidates. We also encourage you to volunteer for
the campaigns of our endorsed candidates near you. See the results of a poll we commissioned in 2018 on the demise of the "atheist taboo" in politics here[[link removed]].

Membership in Center for Freethought Equality is free. However, we gladly accept donations to either -- or both -- the Center for Freethought Equality[[link removed]] (to fund our programs and operations) and/or the Freethought Equality Fund PAC[[link removed]] (to fund our endorsed federal candidates). Donations are voluntary and are not tax deductible.

Thanks again for being a member and below is your membership card!*
