It was a big election night for gun safety. Josh Shapiro will be our next Governor. And, it’s the races you may have not been following that will truly help us pass lifesaving gun safety policies in Harrisburg. Thanks to you, our significant investments and support in these key races was critical to electing gun safety candidates up and down the ballot.

Representative-elect Paul Friel beat an incumbent in Chester County who wants hidden firearms everywhere. We engaged 20,000 voters in his district, with our canvassers and outreach making the choice clear for voters who want safer communities.

Arvind Venkat is an ER doctor who understands the damage a bullet can cause. He’ll be joining State House colleagues across Allegheny County in fighting for gun safety laws.

We’re still waiting for final results in a number of races, but thanks to you, our job got easier.

We have big plans. We’re not done until we win Extreme Risk Protection Orders to prevent suicide, until we require reporting of lost or stolen firearms, and until we expand background checks to every gun sale.

We’re educating new legislators about key gun safety laws. We’re planning a series of vigils to remember the 15,000 Pennsylvanians killed by firearms since the massacre at Sandy Hook 10 years ago.

And, in the places where gun safety champions need more support – we will dig deeper. Because we cannot stop until we’ve ended this epidemic.
