Friend – The results are in, and the people of Illinois have officially elected us to serve another term!

To everyone who voted: I can't thank you enough for the trust you've placed in Juliana and me to continue getting the job done for working families.

To all of you who've sent texts, made calls, and knocked on doors to get out the vote: I want you to know you've made a difference. You left it all on the line and the impact is clear for all to see.

From fighting COVID-19 and protecting the right to choose, to passing a $15/hour minimum wage, defending access to the ballot, fixing our infrastructure, and expanding access to health care, we've saved lives and improved livelihoods since taking office.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg – I cannot wait to see all that we'll accomplish together.

Tonight, as always, I'm remembering my Mom. I told you four years ago about her struggle with alcoholism that ultimately took her life. I told you how the burden a person who loses a parent young carries is the weight of their parent's unlived years on their shoulders.

Never has that responsibility felt more important than it does tonight.

I've fought fights – for choice, for justice, for freedom – that my mother died thinking she had won. So I choose to keep up the fight, the fight for our state, the fight my mother never gave up on, the fight she left to me to finish.

Forever grateful,

JB
