It’s not too much to ask to stay in the place you’ve always called home.
It’s not too much to ask to be able to see a doctor and not have it bankrupt you.
It’s not too much to have your civil rights protected, or your right to vote protected.
If we let people say that what we’re fighting for is ‘too pie in the sky’, or ‘just youthful naivete’, what we’re really doing is letting them talk down our own quality of life.
I know I might be young, but fighting for a better world is not some ‘naive’, ‘frolicking-in-the-meadow’ thing. Sometimes, those who oppose us try to frame our fight as ‘too much’ – because of age, because of where we’re from. But really, it’s because we’re fighting for what’s ours. We’re fighting for what’s afforded to so many other communities.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not too much to ask. Communities like ours deserve it all.
Too often, we're made to feel by the powers that be — powers that don't want to see the working class win in this country — that our actions don't matter.
They do. They do make all the difference. We are not going to change the world by dropping out of it. Anything good that’s happened has always been against all odds. It’s always been David versus Goliath – but David always wins. And no matter what, we're in this fight together.
