Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m excited to update you on my work in Washington, D.C., and in the First District of Kansas. Please feel free to share this email with family and friends who may be interested. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please contact my office - my staff and I are here and ready to assist you. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov In the District An Event to Thank the American Farmer with Special Guest David Beasley of the World Food Programme It was a privilege to have David Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, in the Big First District and to introduce him to Kansas agricultural producers. We hosted a group of Kansas farmers and agricultural leaders at a Cargill grain elevator in Salina to pay tribute to the rich history of Kansas agriculture's role in feeding the world. Kansas farmers feed, fuel, and clothe people around the world, and it’s no small task – it takes grit, determination, and partnership between the public and private sectors. To feed more people, we must encourage more people to become involved in production agriculture. American farmers can produce food more efficiently and effectively here than anywhere else in the world. Farmers have acted selflessly for more than half a century through their food contributions to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the World Food Programme. International assistance programs like those that the World Food Programme implements, have a strong return on investment. This investment supports American agricultural producers today and feeds a starving world. Thank you, American farmers. Read more about 'An Event to Thank the American Farmer' here. Meeting with Maj. General John Meyer III, Ft. Riley Commanding General On Wednesday, I visited Fort Riley and had the opportunity to meet with the Commanding General, Maj. General John Meyer III. We discussed the crucial role that the 1st Infantry Division plays in keeping our nation safe and secure. Congress must prioritize investments in our military and national security to ensure that America remains the strongest nation in the world. It is an honor to represent Fort Riley and all military servicemembers in the Big First District in Congress. God bless our troops. Riley County Police Department Visit Thank you to Officer Kurt Moldrup, Interim Director of the Riley County Police Department, and his team for meeting with me last Wednesday. We discussed their Department's important initiatives and how we can work together to keep our neighborhoods safe. Our law enforcement officers are on the front line protecting our communities every day. We must support them in their mission to uphold our nation of law and order.   Mann.House.Gov In the Office Supporting Market Access to Reinvigorate Trade Act Trade promotion is an essential function of a strong Farm Bill. Between 1977 and 2019, the U.S. Department of Agriculture export promotion programs added 13.7% of additional export revenue (nearly $648 billion) to the value of U.S. agricultural exports. These programs also created almost a quarter of a million American jobs between 2002 and 2019 alone. The return on investment from private sector contributions, which accounted for roughly 75% of export promotion between 2013 and 2019, is unparalleled. The SMART Act will allow for continued commitment to trade associations as they work tirelessly to ensure American producers remain competitive in the international marketplace. I joined six of my colleagues to introduce H.R. 9244, the Supporting Market Access to Reinvigorate Trade (SMART) Act. The SMART Act would amend the Agricultural Trade Act of 1978 to empower the Secretary of Agriculture to allocate additional resources to the Market Access Program and the Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program for fiscal years 2024-2029. As the Congressional representative for the 60,000 farms and ranches in the Big First District, one of my top priorities is to promote trade and export markets for American farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. Washington Democrats' reckless spending and war on American energy production are burdening Kansans with rising prices at the pump. My Republican colleagues and I are committed to getting our economy back on track. When Republicans earn back the U.S. House of Representatives, we will: Curb wasteful government spending that increases our national debt and fuels inflation. Unleash domestic energy production and restore American energy independence. Expand U.S. manufacturing and enhance America's economic competitiveness. This is our Commitment to America.
