Dear John,

Since I announced my candidacy for At Large, I have been speaking with voters across the city about public safety, affordable housing and growing inequality in the city. For the last 10 years on the DC Council, I have come up with research-driven and innovative ways to make neighborhoods safer, more affordable and better equipped to tackle our city’s racial wealth gap <[link removed]>.

And let me be clear: there is still a lot of work to be done.

Now talk is cheap and just like you, I expect the people who ask for our vote to come up with real strategies on how to address some of our city’s most pressing challenges, even when it gets tough, you may receive backlash or the cameras stop rolling because it isn’t the news of the day.

I promise you this: if elected At Large, you can count on me to continue the hard work.

But don’t just take my word for it.

- Read a snapshot of my legislative record <[link removed]>: From helping to address the root cause of crime to preserving and expanding our supply of affordable housing, I have authored and advanced policies to help improve the quality of life for residents across the city.

- Listen to DC Council Chair Phil Mendelson <[link removed]>, gun violence survivor Roger Marmet <[link removed]>, President Obama’s former Secretary of Labor Tom Perez <[link removed]> and many others <[link removed]> on why they’re supporting me for At Large. Just like you, substance really matters to them.

- Take a look at the list of diverse organizations, local papers, and former and current public officials <[link removed]> that have backed my candidacy.

I am asking for one of your two At Large votes because I want our city and its leadership focused on what really matters.

In Service,

Kenyan
