# [#]Dear John,

I have followed with increasing admiration and respect Anna Eshoo's 30 years in Congress since she was first elected in 1992 in what was the heart of my old district in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

I have also followed with increasing outrage, the preposterous, unfair, and untrue charges brought against her by her challenger, Rishi Kumar, in alleging conflict of interest, "selling out" to the health care industry, and not ably serving her constituents.

In 2017, Anna was the first woman member of the House to receive the prestigious Annual Statesmanship Award of the Former Members of Congress, given only to those who "exemplify courage, commitment, passion for democracy, and lifetime dedication to public service."

She received the award, among other things, for her leadership in furthering computer, math, and science skills in young people, a major goal of all Silicon Valley business leaders since the early 1970s.

Anna's courage, calm judgement, and the universal respect of her colleagues has caused her to become a national asset at a time of great peril in our country, and particularly in the continuing effort to make prescription drug costs affordable to Medicaid and Medicare recipients.

For her to be accused of ethical misconduct and of being a "sell-out to health care money" by her challenger, Rishi Kumar, is an insult and an outrage by an arrogant small minded human being, and only demonstrates his unfitness for high office.

Respectfully,
Pete McCloskey,
Member of Congress, 1967-1983 (R-Palo Alto)
