Much of my time is spent writing about our country’s broken justice system. I even wrote a book, based on a true story, about how one billionaire bought an election to install his hand-picked candidate on a state Supreme Court.

As I’m watching what’s happening in North Carolina, it feels eerily familiar. Republican super PACs that are funded by corporate special interests are spending limitless sums of money to buy this seat.

It’s no accident that the status quo is tilted in favor of the wealthy and well-connected. This playbook is how Republicans try to win and hold power, and most of their spending is on misleading attack ads. This is exactly what’s happening to Cheri Beasley, and the lies about her beliefs and record as a judge are an astounding distortion of the truth.

Cheri is committed to changing our broken system and being a voice for the people, but she needs our help to take on the dark money that’s flooding North Carolina.
