Maria del Rosario "Rosie" Castro is the daughter of an immigrant and is a prominent Mexican American social justice and political activist in the San Antonio area. She also has been involved with Network, a national lobby of Catholic nuns, and a San Antonio shelter and transitional housing center for women founded by two sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Castro, now 72, has clearly been the dominant influence on her twin sons, born Sept. 16, 1974.
