 Help evaluate appeals to property assessments
The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners seeks applications from community members to serve on the Board of Equalization. Preferred experience includes a background in residential and commercial property appraising, real estate, construction, mortgage brokerage or development.
The Board of Equalization provides an impartial hearing environment on appeals of
Assessor determinations including changes in property values, denials of senior or
home improvement exemptions, forest land classifications, current use and claims for
property tax exemptions.
Board of Equalization members and Assessor?s Office staff meet with property owners
in hearings to decide?if an error was made indicating the property assessment should be changed. Training and a stipend are offered.
