What happened to Paul Pelosi in his own home was despicable. I hope his recovery is quick and that his attacker is brought to justice.
What happened in the aftermath of the Pelosi attack is even worse: mainstream “conservative” media outlets spreading blatantly false disinformation, propaganda, and outright lies about the attack. Prominent GOP politicians and candidates for office on ballots right now across the country spreading these hateful and damaging lies, never thinking about the consequences of encouraging such destructive and fantastical thinking.
People will die. In a nation awash in guns, where literally anyone can access powerful, lethal firearms on a moment’s notice, and mental health care is out of reach for millions who may need it, more people will get hurt.
Pelosi’s attacker was a radical extremist who quoted QAnon and pandemic conspiracies. QAnon and MAGA push such "alternative facts" for the easily duped. From Alex Jones to Donald Trump, their influence is everywhere in the mainstream media and easily available to whoever identifies with their lies and hate.
There is nothing American about MAGA and QAnon. There are currently nearly 300 election deniers running for office. Don’t send another Lauren Boebert or Ken Buck back to Congress this November. We can defeat them if we unify.
