Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m excited to update you on my work in Washington, D.C., and in the First District of Kansas. Please feel free to share this email with family and friends who may be interested. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please contact my office - my staff and I are here and ready to assist you. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov House Republicans' Commitment to America Since President Biden took office, House Republicans have requested information and documents related to the implementation of programs and program dollars more than 500 times. Americans deserve answers. When Republicans earn back the U.S. House of Representatives, we are committed to maintaining a government of the people, by the people. We will provide real transparency, conduct rigorous oversight to reign in government abuse of power, and demand that the White House answer for its incompetence at home and abroad. This is our Commitment to America. Learn more about the Commitment to America Policy Plan here.   Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead I am excited to meet with Kansans and visit local businesses around Salina and Manhattan this week. On Wednesday, I will visit Fort Riley, The Fork in the Road Farmer's Market, and the Riley County Police Department. On Thursday, I will visit Kansas State University in Manhattan and meet with agricultural leaders in Salina. If you'd like to stay up to date with my activities, follow me on Facebook and Instagram for daily updates. In the District Fort Hays State University Visit Last Friday, I visited Fort Hays State University and met with FHSU President, Tisa Mason. While touring the campus, I visited the Fischli-Wills Center for Student Success, the Department of Art and Design, and Hammond Hall, where I spoke with faculty about the Cybersecurity Institute and Technology Incubator. FHSU is the first college in Kansas to receive the National Security Agency’s designation of academic excellence in cybersecurity. FHSU’s Department of Informatics has 7 undergraduate majors, 3 minors, and 8 graduate programs, along with internship opportunities for students. FHSU is making innovative strides in cybersecurity and is developing the next generation of students. I look forward to seeing FHSU excel in this field and more. Corner Drug and Gift Visit Thank you to Shawna Doane with Corner Drug and Gift in Downs for meeting with me and showing me around the pharmacy. Shawna is a local pharmacist, and we discussed current issues that are affecting local pharmacies and pharmacists around the Big First District, including pharmacy benefit managers and Medicare. Local pharmacies and pharmacists are essential to the health and well-being of our communities. I am grateful for their hard work in keeping Kansans healthy. This is why I support legislation like H.R. 1829, the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Accountability Study Act, which would lower the cost of prescription drugs, and H.R. 4390, the Protect 340B Act, which would protect pharmacies and providers from discrimination by pharmacy benefit managers Mann Listening Tour: Gove County and Trego County Last Friday, I hosted town halls in Gove and Trego counties. We discussed: Agriculture, the drought, and the Farm Bill The importance of the stepped-up basis Border security and the illicit fentanyl crisis EPA overreach The health care workforce shortage Inflation and the war on fossil fuels Thank you to everyone who attended, including State Representative Jim Minnix. I would also like to give a special thanks to library directors DesiRae Churchwell and Mary Deaver for hosting these events. These town halls marked the final stops on the 2022 Mann Listening Tour. During both years of my first term in Congress, I have hosted town halls in each of the Big First’s 63 counties. I am grateful for all who have attended these meetings to share their thoughts with me. It is an honor to represent you in Congress.   Mann.House.Gov Happening Across the Country 95th National FFA Convention & Expo Update Congratulations to all the Kansas FFA members on a job well done at the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo! I would like to give a special congratulations to Jay McClure of the Hugoton FFA Chapter on being selected as the Forage Production Proficiency national winner, and Abigail Porter of the Beloit FFA Chapter on being selected as the Veterinary Science Proficiency national winner. In celebration of the National FFA Convention & Expo this week, I was honored to join Congressman Dan Newhouse, Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus, Scott Stump, Chief Executive Officer of the National FFA Organization and Foundation, and Cole Baerlocher, National FFA President during the most recent episode of "A Voice for Rural America.” As the co-founder and co-chair of the inaugural Congressional FFA Caucus, and a member of the Congressional Western Caucus, I believe that we must support the next generation of food and agriculture if we are going to thrive as a nation. It is an honor for me to advocate on behalf of these bright, young FFA members. Click here to see all the results of Kansas FFA members from the 95th National FFA Conventional. Listen to the episode here. Inflation is costing Kansans over $700 each month Rising inflation stemming from wasteful federal spending and the Biden Administration's war on fossil fuels is hammering Kansans’ bottom line. To get inflation under control and the economy back on track, House Republicans will work to put an end to reckless federal spending, unleash American energy production, and remove onerous government regulations that are hamstringing small businesses.   Mann.House.Gov Student Opportunities Click here to learn more about the 2022 Congressional App Challenge.   Mann.House.Gov Since last January, my staff and I have corresponded with and assisted thousands of Kansans, and we are here to serve you too!
