Don't Pass a Bill Like Nancy Pelosi

In 1936, Mississippi became the first state in the nation to come up with the idea of giving away money to entice companies to move to our state, and yet we are still in last place economically.  The idea of paying companies to come to Mississippi has not worked and increasing the amount of corporate welfare with the "biggest economic development" project in Mississippi history is not the direction in which we should continue.

We still know very little about the newest economic development project, and will be asked to vote on the bill in less than 24 hours. This is a complete and utter failure of the process for which the tax payers of Mississippi should hold their politicians accountable.

We can only hope that leadership won't ask us to pass the bill to find out what is in it, but given the sheer magnitude of the project, why should we be asked to vote on a bill in a special session where Legislators and the public are being kept in the dark?

We ask that leadership release the full details of the project and what the costs will be to tax payers with substantial notice so that lawmakers can review the details.

Calling a special session with 2 days notice and still not having any details of the legislation less than 24 hours before gaveling in is UNACCEPTABLE.
