“Things will not be OK on their own. We have to fight for this. Democracy is not self-executing. It depends on us — working, nurturing, caring for it — not just on Election Day but every day in between. It depends on us as citizens saying ‘this matters.’ This election matters, Georgia.

John:

On Friday, President Obama visited Georgia to help us get out the vote and defend democracy.

His message was simple: VOTE.

This election is going to be close. We don’t yet know what the results will be. But we do know a couple things.

We know that we can’t let up or become complacent. It is incumbent on each and every one of us to nurture and care for our democracy. And we need to ensure that every voter can have their voice heard.

We know the numbers are on our side, John. If enough people vote, Democrats will win, and Republicans will be out of a job. That’s the whole reason Gov. Kemp and the Georgia GOP have enacted such an aggressive voter suppression law — to try to keep the people from replacing Republicans with actual leaders like Stacey Abrams.

We know that if we can get enough Georgians to the polls, we can start to make things better. And as President Obama said on Friday, “Better is worth fighting for.
