 President Biden believes college should be a ticket to a better life – not a financial burden. He wants to make sure students can be successful. That’s why more public servants can now benefit from student loan forgiveness because of the improved Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This program forgives the leftover debt on your federal student loans after you make 120 monthly payments.

Many public servants were first left out and did not receive the credit they deserved for their public service because they could not qualify for this program. This means the payments they made did not count towards the 120 months required for forgiveness. This happened because the program had tough restrictions.
President Biden is dedicated to fixing this and helping public servants. That’s why his Administration announced a “limited waiver” for public servants. This allows eligible public servants to receive credit for when they did not originally qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness. This could help borrowers pay off their debt quicker.
