When I heard Michelle’s story and why she is running to represent South Texas in Congress, I was struck by how much we have in common. Like me, Michelle was born and raised in her district and has deep roots in her community.
And both Michelle and I are motivated by our moms. My mom was a public school teacher who taught me to chart my own course. Michelle’s mom battled multiple sclerosis for 15 years, and her passing in 2010 motivated Michelle to fight for a better future for her family and all people in South Texas. Even when our world didn’t give her mother the care she needed, Michelle never stopped believing that a better world is possible when people come together across differences and work for it together.
And now Michelle is running to join me in Congress, where we can both work to give back to the communities that invested in us.
Here’s another thing Michelle and I have in common, John — neither of us accepts corporate PAC money. We’re both committed to running grassroots campaigns because we’re here to represent real people, not special interests. This race is winnable, and the path to a House Majority is through TX-15.
