Hey John, I’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that a record-breaking number of people in Georgia have voted early in the 2022 midterms! Over 838,000 folks have done their civic duty and submitted their ballots either by mail or in-person. The bad news? We’re still facing potential voter suppression, led by none other than the incumbent Republican governor, Brian Kemp. He signed SB202, a law that creates even more barriers to getting Georgians to the polls – all under the guise of “protecting elections”. We can’t be complacent. In 2018, thousands of “infrequent voters” had their ballots purged while others had their registration put on hold. Despite the great numbers on voting we’ve seen, we need to do everything we can to push through Republican challenges and get ballots submitted.
Right now, Stacey is neck and neck with Brian Kemp in the polls. She can win in November, but it’s going to take all of us keeping our foot on the gas. The time is now to flood voters with our message and vision for what the future of Georgia can look like.
