When Mylissa's water broke at just 17 weeks, she was devastated. Every doctor told her there was no chance her daughter would survive and to avoid a serious infection or complication, she needed to find emergency abortion care – soon.

All Mylissa wanted to do was grieve the loss of her daughter, but under the extreme abortion ban that Eric Schmitt mandated, she couldn't access the potentially lifesaving care that she needed. So instead, Mylissa was forced to put her grief on hold and turn instead to logistics: Where could she get the care that she needed?

Mylissa’s story shows the incredible dangers posed by Missouri's abortion ban – the one that Eric Schmitt started to enforce just 6 minutes after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Eric Schmitt wants to put people behind bars for providing that kind of essential care – with few exceptions. But I've seen first hand that none of this is black and white. Medical care is full of gray areas and complicated, messy situations. Because at the end of the day, these types of decisions are about patients and their doctors – not career politicians with no medical experience writing laws from a far-off statehouse.

But Eric Schmitt couldn't care less about any of that. He doesn't care about women like Mylissa. He doesn't care about whether or not doctors can provide the care their patients need. He doesn't care about Missouri families. He only cares about himself, his political career, and power.

I promise you that as Missouri's next senator, I will be the the vote we need to codify abortion access and restore reproductive freedom in Missouri. But I cannot defeat Eric Schmitt and his far-right agenda without you. So please, John, can I count on your grassroots donation tonight?
