Hey John – Brett here with a headline you've got to see from Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight: "The Supreme Court Is On The Verge Of Killing The Voting Rights Act."
|
Under Chief Justice John Roberts' court, the Voting Rights Act – once hailed as one of the most important and effective pieces of legislation – has been all but gutted. Now, SCOTUS is taking up a case that could allow states to draw Jim Crow-era district maps – thereby eliminating the electoral power of minority voters and maintaining control indefinitely.
|
Republican-instituted laws that suppress voting access – from Georgia to Texas – are already targeting Black voters and other voters of color. Now, the conservative-stacked Supreme Court could green-light even more voter suppression and bring an end to the Voting Rights Act as we know it.

We refuse to let the right to vote go gentle into that good night – but none of the work we do would be possible without the crucial grassroots support of the MeidasMighty. That’s why we want to see where the MeidasMighty stands on the existential threats posed to our democracy. Our new poll closes at 11:59 p.m., and we still need 5,500 responses:

Do you support protecting every American's right to vote?

Thank you so much for standing with us in the fight for our democracy – because it will take each and every one of us to keep it.
