Rather than doubling down on integrity efforts, Facebook is rolling back election safeguards, actively fueling the spread of misinformation and endangering our democracy. Watch our new national television ad that’s running today across the country calling out Facebook for failing to protect our democracy:

Friend, we refuse to stand idly by while Facebook continues to rollback numerous election safeguards including:

• Disbanding their team overseeing the platform’s role in elections. [1]

• Cutting core elections-focused staff by 80% since 2020. [2]

• Ending work on addressing the societal harms of their own products. [3]

• Scaling back their own transparency tools for tracking election misinformation. [4]

• Cease promoting news from legitimate authoritative sources. [5]

• Blocking independent researchers investigating misinformation on the platform. [6]

Unless we hold them accountable, Facebook will just continue to put its own profits over people. We can’t let them get away with it – our democracy depends on it.
