As a result of the visa backlog for young people from certain countries adjusting status based on special immigrant juvenile status (SIJS), more young people are adjusting status as adults, sometimes with delinquency adjudications or adult criminal convictions. This webinar will review the eligibility requirements for SIJS-based adjustment of status under INA § 245(h). We will discuss the immigration consequences of delinquency and crimes and review which grounds of inadmissibility can be waived, as well as strategies to avoid non-waivable grounds.
