We had a really busy weekend! We had meetings of the membership committee, abolition priority group, and a great morning cleanup at Summit Lake.

Wednesday (10/26) is our October general meeting; don’t forget to sign up. You can attend in person or virtually. We will be catching up on everything that’s been going on over the last month and discussing what we have planned for going forward. Check out the agenda.  

Don’t forget that we have an election coming up on Nov 8! Check your county’s board of elections for details on voting early. A few voting recommendations for Akronites:

• Issue 1 - No
  • Cash bail is a punitive and regressive policy that should be abolished. It actually causes more crime and causes communities to be less safe. Issue 1 would make cash bail in the area even more punitive.
• Issue 2 - No
  • This would disenfranchise voters and make our elections less democratic.
• Issue 10 - Yes
  • There’s been some confusion because of the overlap with the mayor’s review board, but we’re in favor of this issue because it would create a police review board that has less mayoral control and more input from City Council, and it adds it to the city’s charter, which gives the review board more staying power.
