We have a "knife's edge Senate" right now.
With 50 Democrats and 50 Republicans split evenly down the middle, there’s
no margin for error.
Because Democrats won the White House in 2020, Vice President Kamala
Harris has served as the tie-breaking vote on the progressive legislation
we’ve been able to pass over the last couple of years, like the American
Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Despite our wins, forecasters like FiveThirtyEight are calling the Senate
a toss-up for the 2022 midterms. That means we have just the next 19 days
to protect and grow our Democratic majority if we want to keep advancing a
progressive agenda. We must hold as many seats as we can, including
Vermont’s, and that means electing Peter Welch.

The GOP only needs to flip one seat to regain the Senate majority. Fox
News and national Republicans have been targeting our race—which means
they see a chance to pick up a seat in Vermont.
Why? In 2020, Vermont reelected its Republican governor by 41
points—one of the largest
margins in state history. Vermont has only ever elected ONE Democratic
Senator before, which means we shouldn’t take anything for granted. And
Vermont is the only open Senate seat held by a Democrat, which means we
have to hold it to keep the Senate blue.
That’s why this race is so important—to the future of the Senate, our
state, and our country. Losing Vermont would undermine everything we’ve
accomplished, and threaten everything we still hope to achieve. We can’t
let that happen.
