John,
In the weeks after my sweet little Daniel's murder, my wife, Jackie, and I would literally collapse on the floor in a heap, sobbing together.
In those terrible moments, our family looked the opposite of what you might think: It was our surviving children, James and Natalie, who would find us and wrap their arms around us until we could stand again.
I'll do whatever it takes to prevent other families from feeling the agony I felt then – and the pain I still feel every single day. That's why it's so important to me that we secure every dollar of our generous donors' $409,250 match, so we can help protect more children like Daniel from gun violence.
We only have two days to reach this critical year-end match goal, and we're still falling very short. Can I count on you to give now to have your tax-deductible gift doubled so we can expand our lifesaving work to prevent more school shootings next year?
Please rush $10, or as much as you can, to Sandy Hook Promise right now, and your tax-deductible gift will go twice as far toward protecting children from gun violence in 2020.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Daniel is gone forever. I look at his empty chair at the kitchen table and can't believe he'll never sit there again. But what keeps me going in those moments is knowing I can still honor his too-short life by protecting other children from gun violence.
More than 11 million students and educators have learned how to recognize the warning signs of gun violence and how to get help through our no-cost Know the Signs programs. We've already helped avert multiple school shooting threats, and I know there are so many more tragedies we can prevent if we meet this final fundraising goal.
Thank you for helping me do that today.
Mark Barden (Daniel's father)
