John,
Early voting has started in numerous states and more than a million voters have already cast their ballots.
However, a significant number of Americans are unaware that there’s even an election. According to a survey by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, 37% of Americans could not identify when Election Day is held.1 With less than three weeks until the most consequential midterm election in our history, we must do everything we can to reach voters and make sure they have all the information they need to cast their ballots.
This year we’ve expanded our Voter Engagement work, hired new staff, and called and written letters to thousands of registered voters in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Florida. We even joined the cast of Hamilton to write letters and we held two bilingual phone banks!
We have so much at stake this November and the elections will make a huge impact in deciding the future of our social programs, economy, and communities. Elections at every level will determine whether to invest in education, housing, health care, nutrition and many other critically needed programs, and whether the right to vote will be protected.
In these final few weeks, will you join us and our partners to inform voters, combat disinformation, and make sure they have the correct information they need to vote? There are two important volunteer opportunities happening today.
Click here to sign up and volunteer with our allies at State Voices in their election protection program. There’s a training today at 2pm ET.
We’re also working to combat dangerous disinformation online that suppresses the vote of marginalized communities.
Click here to sign-up and become a social media monitor with our allies at Election Protection. The next training is tonight at 9pm ET.
With 19 states having passed voter suppression laws that disproportionately target vulnerable communities, we all need to work together to make sure that voters, especially those with low incomes and people of color, are able to get to the polls and make their voices heard.
Thank you for all you do,
Dominique Espinoza Outreach and Engagement Specialist, Coalition on Human Needs
