You may have noticed an uptick in our emails inviting you to attend virtual phonebanks — and if you live near the district, door knocking.
Door knocking and phonebanking are the best tools for reaching voters where they’re at, having meaningful conversations, and making impactful connections.
But I know for organizers and volunteers — people like you — it can feel nerve wracking, especially the first time. So I wanted to talk to you a little about how important it is to just show up.
During my first campaign, I remember one time when I was phonebanking, a young woman picked up and said, “You know, you all came to my door a week ago. And I didn't answer it, but I've been thinking about it ever since. And now you're calling me and I want you to know that you have my vote.” Woo!
So again showing up counts, showing up is what matters. And understand that when you get out there on the streets, you are not alone — you are part of a generation and a lineage of people who have always fought to make this world better. Scrap by scrap, inch by inch, foot by foot, mile by mile. And I want to thank you for doing that because things like this are what matters.
