Friend, I'm writing to you today on behalf of my mom -- Julie Oliver.
Like so many people, I look at the people that Texas has elected to positions of public trust and believe that we could do so much better. We need people in office who always put our shared humanity first, and who fight for policies that help people who are struggling or haven’t been heard -- people like my mom. Her compassion, her dedication, and her values are what we Texans need in Congress. Last weekend, as I celebrated with my family after receiving my doctorate at TCU, I thought back on how far I had come and the people who made my journey possible.
As you may know, my mom had me when she was just 17. She raised me while finishing high school and then worked her way through college and law school. She poured her heart into my well-being and worked through extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
She was helped by the generosity of so many in our community -- Texans who came to the aid of someone in need because of their shared humanity. Mom never forgot this, and she's determined to bring that humanity to legislating.
Mom supported me at every turn, and today I'm asking you to support her. Her story is one that so many Texans have experienced themselves, and your donation is going to help her have the conversations we need to have in our state and build winning coalitions to move our state and our country forward.
